Day 1- Tirana
You’ll be picked up from Tirana airport and brought to the accommodation where you’ll meet our knowledgable local guide and fellow travellers. We’ll kick things off with a guided walking tour of Tirana, the capital of Albania. It’s well-known for its vibrant lifestyle, diverse architecture and countless museums. The city tour will take you on a journey through different periods of history from Ottoman, the monarchy of Albania, communism to modern times. We’ll also visit the fascinating BunkArt 2 in the centre city, one of the largest Cold War bunkers in Albania. Wait till you hear about the history that surrounds this place! Dinner will be at a delicious restaurant in Tirana.
Day 2- Berat
It’s time to leave the capital city and head to Berat, a city that was founded in the 4th century B.C. This stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site is nicknamed ‘The White City’ or ‘One Above Another Window’. You’ll see why! We’ll spend some time strolling the cobblestone narrow streets and climb to spectacular viewpoints of the city with our local guide. Next we’ll head to a local vineyard for a wine tasting and dinner. Albanian wine is out-of-this-world!
Day 3- Berat
Today we add some adrenaline to the trip. We head to Tomorri Mountain where the Osumi River flows through 35 metre high canyons. Together with a professional local team, we’ll hop onboard a raft and paddle our way through the impressive canyon. After this beautiful adventure and hunger-evoking adventure, we’ll have lunch in a local restaurant before heading back to Berat.
Day 4- Gjirokaster
We say goodbye to Berat and drive south into the mountain region of Laberia. We’ll pass the viaduct built in the 19th century by Ali Pasha, a significant figure in Albanian history before finding the hidden Peshtura Waterfall. Hopefully with nobody else around, we’ll enjoy a refreshing swim in the turquoise waters before visiting Nivice Village for a local local and spectaular views. Full of delicious food, we continue on to Gjirokaster, another UNESCO city in Albania. We’ll explore the old bazaar, Skenduli’s house (it’s fascinating), Gjirokaster Obelisk and do some shopping.
Day 5- Sarandë
The day begins exploring Gjirokaster Castle. Built by Albanian Ali Pasha during Ottoman Empire above, this medieval fortress is one of the largest in the Balkans. It offers great views of Drino valley, an impressive weapon museum of WWII and a slightly creepy prison. You won’t want to say goodbye to Gjirokaster, but the remarkable Blue Eye should make it a little easier. Here we’ll go for a walk in the nature of Muzina Mountain and go for a swim in the Blue Eye. The swimming opportunities aren’t over as we head to the coastal city of Sarandë where we can enjoy time relaxing on the beach.
Day 6- Tirana
The best way to explore this area of Albania’s coastline is by boat, so we’ll be doing exactly that. Our boat trip will take us to Kroreza Beach, a remote sport only accessible by boat. We’ll relax and swim on the shores of the Ionian Sea. After a tasty lunch, we’ll head back to Tirana for our final dinner together.
Day 7- Tirana Airport
Unfortunately we have to say goodbye to the amazing country of Albania, our local guide and the new friends that we’ve made. The trip also includes a transfer to Tirana Airport.
